Today's word comes directly from one of my managers at work. He used it in a sentence to me stating, "Don't be such a Schmoo." So I chose this word today, because I really didn't know if this was a "real" word. I got home and looked it up.
Thinking clearly that the word must be some inkling of an insult or bad thing to be. A Schmoo? Who wants to be a schmoo? In one perspective being a Schmoo could be degrading or considered a weak personality trait. While on the contrary for the right situation, or person being a Schmoo may prove to be quite interesting.
Schmoo
fabulous animal, ready to fulfill man's wants, 1948, invented by U.S. cartoonist Al Capp (Alfred Caplin, 1909-1979).

Don't you remember that schmoo (or possibly shmoo) is the name of my family's famous chocolate pudding-coolwhip-almond confection that everyone freaks out over at festive occassions? It got its name years ago when one of my uncles said, "Give me some of that, that schmoo over there." referring to the desert. Interesting that someone would call you that...
